The first time my daughter asked if the tooth fairy was real, I told her the truth. She was so upset she cried on and off all day. I had assumed she was ready for the truth, but obviously not, so I actually had to “resurrect” the tooth fairy and leave a note from her for my daughter that night. I have also questioned whether or not I should have sold my kids on Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy. But looking back, I am so happy I had these magical icons as a kid; they brought so much excitement, fun, and happiness to me. I asked my children, now that they are teenagers, if I should have told them the truth and not ever let them believe in these ideas. They both agreed that although they were disappointed to find out the truth, they wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. That was enough for me. Let children have the magic, they grow up so quickly!
